FPA of MN’s Advocacy Day is Wednesday, March 9th at the State Capitol

A reminder that Wednesday, March 9th is FPA of MN’s Advocacy Day at the State Capitol in St. Paul. We will be meeting at 9:00 AM in Room 500 North of the State Office Building which is located adjacent to the State Capitol. We will start the morning with a review of how to interact with your elected officials and what to tell them about FPA of MN.

At 10 AM, Commissioner Mike Rothman and officials from the Department of Commerce will be dropping by to update us on their efforts in regulating securities and advisors. We will also get an overview of the Minnesota Safe Seniors Financial Protection Act proposed by the Commissioner to give advisors the responsibility to be on the lookout for withdrawals that could be fraud on seniors and vulnerable adults (see below). These are important changes to relationship that advisors have with their senior clients and it would be worthy of your time to come hear what the Commissioner is proposing.

We will then go meet our elected officials and remind them that FPA of MN is working to help all Minnesotans to make better investment decisions. It would also be an opportunity to discuss the proposed act with the legislators and offer your personal view and experience on the matter.
